Automatic Opening

Automatic opening is the training method with the longest history in parachuting. In this method, the parachute is opened by a static line which is attached to the aircraft.

When you jump out of the aircraft at 3.500 feet, this line automatically opens your parachute. You do not make any freefall on this jump.
If you continue the course, you make several jumps.
After a minimum 7 jumps with a stable exit where you prove you can open your parachute in a stable body position, you make your first short solo freefall.

These first freefalls are made from 5.000ft. When you are successful, you make longer and longer freefalls until you can jump from 13.000ft.
The automatic opening jump course is cheaper than an AFF course. From your first jump you learn to fly and land your parachute.
